PNFSP supports Katribu Partylist
PNFSP is supporting Katribu partylist, which aims to bring representatives to Congress that will uphold and protect the rights and welfare of indigenous peoples.
The fight for genuine land reform and food security is one of the keystones of Katribu's platform. The other anchors of Katribu's platform are the following:
1. Protect ancestral land as the source of life. Advance indigenous
peoples’ rights to ancestral domain and self-determination.
2. Strive for
sufficient and suitable social services, especially in the fields of
livelihood development, labor protection, education, and health.
3.
Fight against policies that promote large mining, the construction of
large dams, the establishment of large plantations, and other big
business projects which destroy ancestral land and the environment.
Promote the adoption of alternative policies which foster the the
sustainable use and nurturance of the environment.
4. Promote
traditional methods of natural resource use and management.
5.
Enhance the capacity of communities to address the effects of
environmental destruction and climate change, such as the disasters
which now occur with almost every typhoon.
6. Gain recognition
and respect for indigenous socio-political and economic systems,
cultures, and identity.
7. Stand up for justice, human rights,
and equality.
Katribu's nominees are Beverly Longid (Bontok and Kankanaey), Genasque Enriquez (Manobo) and Nelson Mallari (Aeta).
