Press Conference of FARDEC's NFFSM

A press conference was held on September 15, 2011 to present the results of FARDEC's National Fact Finding and Solidarity Mission (NFFSM). The fact-finding team investigated the harassment experienced by 39 farmers, including 3 students from the University of the Philippines Visayas last August 29. But prior to the incident, the farming community in Bonbon, Aloguinsan , Cebu has been experiencing harassment and threats of ejectment from the Gantuangcos, who are claiming ownership over the land.

Among the recommendations of the team are: investigation of the CHR regarding the August 29 incident; the dismissal of the injunction case filed against the farmers, FARDEC, AnakPawis Partylist, KMP and Bayan Muna; and for the DENR to decisively act and hasten the issuances and release of Free Patents to the farmers who are occupying the land.
